Identifying Fakes

Lately I received a few fake items and I wanted to review a few of them here for a bit to remind everyone how careful you need to be when buying from any reseller. I say any because the “Chanel” wallet that you see below was purchased from a known reputable reseller online and when the client gave it to me for consignment I simply could not accept it. I wrote a letter on her behalf to state why I believe it is an unauthentic item so she can receive her refund. Here is the wallet:

 Fake

Look closely at the zipper pull. A leather zipper pull on a Chanel wallet should have rounded corners and stitching around the trim such as the one below purple iridescent:

 Authentic

Another bag I received was the following Louis Vuitton bag but this one was an obvious fake. See the sloppy stamping and monogram. You can also see a difference in the color of the canvas to an authentic bag.

Christian Louboutin shoes are important to check upon arrival. Here are a few comparison of fake soles and outsoles of shoes I recently received.

CHANEL flats are another classic that often will be copied. My client purchased her flats from an Instagram reseller who provided a Certificate of Authenticity that came along with her flats. This does not always mean that your shoes will be authentic. I always advise to double check authenticity on any item you purchase for a peace of mind. Here is how to spot fake Chanel flats.
In this picture the quilted flats are authentic. Notice the excessive stretch in the leather in the flats next to them. The fake flats also don't run true to Chanel sizing.
The authentic Chanel flats should have a serial number at the interior leather. On the fake flats, it is not present anywhere at the interior.
Chanel shoes are made of impeccable quality. You can clearly see the stamping is off on the outsoles of the fake flats and the material of the outsoles does not come close to the quality of the authentic ones.
How to authenticate an Hermes Evelyne 16 bag:
One was purchased directly from the Hermes store and the other was given for consignment.
The half circle should be less than 1" wide on an authentic Hermes Evelyne 16.
This one is exactly 1" in width and is clearly wider when comparing them side by side.
This one is the real Hermes Evelyne.
This one is a fake one. The holes are not as crisp and polished at interior.
